Reconditioned Tinius Olsen Little Giant from 1930s
Tensile Tester Repair Tinius Olsen Little Giant – 1930s
Frank Bacon Machinery Sales Co. Reconditions Tinius Olsen Little Giant – machine originally manufactured from the mid-1900s.
After the end of the civil war, a need for a machine to test the strength of materials before use was apparent. Prior to having universal testing machines, the only way to test material was through experiments that were done dangerously through building collapses and explosions.
This machine was a big deal because it was one of the earliest motorized testing machines that had both tension and compression. Also previous models had a scale hand crank, whereas this model has a dial indicator.
We purchased this machine over 20 years ago and we have held it in inventory to use as a show piece.
We have the capability to upgrade it to all new electronics and controls but we wanted to keep it this beauty in our front office.
